Cook Brothers Inc., owns and manages a project based voucher program.
The Section 8 financial assistance provide a subsidy that helps bridge the gap between the rents needed to make a project feasible and the rents affordable to the tenants.
Cook Brothers purchased four Section 8 properties in July of 2009. Two of the properties are located in Idamay WV, with properties also in Carolina and Rivesville, all properties are located in Marion County, WV.
Section 8 Housing
Federal housing assistance programs began during the Great Depression to address the country's housing crisis. In the 1960s and 1970s, the federal government created subsidy programs to increase the production of low-income housing and to help families pay their rent.
SECTION 8 EXISTING RENTAL ASSISTANCE
- Provides rental assistance to low-income families who are unable to afford market rents. Assistance may be in the form of vouchers or certificates.
- Section 8 Housing is income based housing that is based on 30% of the tenants total income.
- Total income is a family's income before any taxes or other exclusions or deductions have been taken out of it.
- Family's interested in putting in an application must have income below the 2010 Income Limits for Very Low (50%) Income Limits. Please check income against the chart listed below for Marion County West Virginia.
